Emily Hamel, the mastermind and creative genius behind Jackalope Productions, was born and raised in Houston, Texas. She earned her B.F.A. in Psychology and Studio Art from the University of Virginia and her M.F.A in Computer Arts from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. Emily currently resides in Austin, Texas and divides her time between freelance motion graphics, film work, and other creative pursuits. During her illustrious film career, Emily has worked with the likes of Richard Linklater, Terrence Malick, the Wachowski Siblings, Elizabeth Avellan, Troublemaker Studios, many independent directors across the United States, and even skated for the TXRD Rollergirls, Austin’s infamous banked-track roller derby. Emily’s animations have been shown in numerous film festivals including: The Atlanta Film Festival's Film Festival Collective, The National Film Festival for Talented Youths, The Oxford Film Festival, The Salmagundi Film Festival, and the FilmOne Festival where it garnered her a Best Director’s Honorable Mention. Emily continues to find humor in the absurd and pursues work that inspires people to laugh often and loudly.
